City Inhabitants
The city of Craftstoke, Illinois, United States is located in the Shelby County, ca 250 miles of Chicago and 175 miles of Springfield. The city is the second largest city in the state after Chicago with 846,461 inhabitants (2008). The urban area, including the cities of Ravenwood, Northshire and Peterson totals 1,346,641 inhabitants (2007), ranked 2nd in Illinois and 40th in national.
The urban area, which have a surface of 2648.74 square mile, include the Norridge Lake, is crossing by the Interstate 47, the US Roads 17, 24, 55, 61, 76, 89 and 92 (details on the Global City Map) and the Amtrak Roads "Texas Eagle", "Lincoln Service", "Illinois" and "City of New Orleans", shared with the Metra Commuters Trains. Major Cities
Cratstoke is the major city and the Shelby County seat. The city, with 846,461 inhabitants is the financial and economic center of the region. Considered like a state major urban area, the city is deserves by many transportation. It's home of the only Amtrak station in the county. Historically, the city was found in 1625 and it was the first town in the region.
Ravenwood, located on the north east of the county, is a medium size town with 143,794 inhabitants. The town is joined to Craftstoke downtown by the US Road 89 and 92 and by the Metra Commuter Train. It's home of MLS Craftstoke Imperials facilities and training grounds. It's a residential city, mainly populated by workers from the Craftstoke downtown
Northshire, located on the north west of the county, is a small town with 64,982 inhabitants. In middle of McKinley Woods, the town is deserves by the US Roads 89 and 55 and by the Metra Commuter Train. It's a small farmer town, but recent years, some people working for the O'hare International Airport and industry have settled.
Peterson, located on south east of the county, is near the Midway State Airport. On the shores of the Norridge Lake, the city is a residential town with some shops. With 84,561 inhabitants, it's the county third city. It's home of NFL Craftstoke Bears facilities and training grounds. It's mainly populated by wealthy people working for Craftstoke's offices.
Population Density
The Shelby County Population Density Map was established on the request of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity in the 2008. Map Legends are on the larger diagram, but it will be describe once again here. The most populous district is Edison, (24,761 people per square mile) and the lowest is Evergreen (0,126 people per square mile). The four downtown districts (Monroe, Avondale, Rivendale and Edison, but some parts of Lawn) are the densest of the city. Lincoln Square district can be considered like a major area too.
Neighborhoods
The Shelby County Neighborhoods Map was published by the City Hall Office in 2004. In gray is the airports and industry. In brown are detailed the railroads transit system. The City Hall Office mandated a designers office to redrawn the map with other colors. Update will come soon.
